Privacy Policy

Looking for Kolton Consulting's Privacy Policy? It's here: kolton.consulting/privacy.
kolton.net is my personal site (“the Site”) — I'm Kolton Prymula, based in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and I run it myself. This page covers exactly what the Site collects, why, who sees it, and how to get it deleted. Short version: I collect the minimum needed to keep the Get in touch form working and to see roughly how many people visit, I never sell anything, and I don't run ads.
1. What I collect
What you give me
- Get in touch: your name (optional), email address, and message. It's stored in the Site's database and I get an email copy so I actually see it.
What's collected automatically
- First-party analytics: the page you viewed, the site you came from, and whether you're on mobile or desktop. Your rough location (country/region/city) is looked up from your IP address using an offline database I host myself — your IP is never sent anywhere for this and isn't stored alongside the result. You're identified only by a hash that's reset every 24 hours, so it can't follow you from one day to the next. No cookie involved.
- Google Analytics: loaded on every page to give me traffic counts — pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device/browser, session length, referring site. It sets its own cookies. I haven't turned on Google Signals or ad personalization, so it isn't used for advertising. Google's own policy is at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Server logs: my web host keeps standard access logs (IP, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting, on a rolling basis.
- Cookies: one strictly-necessary session cookie (
kh_sess) that keeps forms secure, plus Google Analytics' cookies described above.
What I don't collect
No visitor accounts or passwords, no payment info, no precise location, no advertising IDs, nothing sold or shared with data brokers.
2. Who it's shared with
Only the services that actually run the Site:
- Web host — serves the Site, stores the database and form submissions, keeps access logs.
- Google Analytics — traffic counts, not advertising.
- Google Fonts — the Site's typefaces load directly from Google's servers, which sees your IP address the way any font/image request would.
- Spotify — album art on the music and feed pages loads directly from Spotify's image servers, and "Open in Spotify" links take you to open.spotify.com, governed by Spotify's own policy.
- OpenStreetMap — individual post pages that include a location show an embedded map loaded from openstreetmap.org.
I don't sell or rent anything, and I don't share data for advertising.
3. How long I keep it
- Get in touch messages: kept while relevant, deleted on request any time.
- First-party analytics: kept to compare traffic over time; the daily visitor hash is unlinkable after 24 hours regardless.
- Google Analytics: per Google's default retention for this property (currently 14 months), then auto-deleted on their end.
- Server logs: short rolling window controlled by the host.
4. Your rights
Wherever you're located, email hi@kolton.net and I'll get back to you, typically within 30 days — to see what I have on you, correct it, or delete it. If you're in the EEA/UK, that covers your GDPR access/rectification/erasure/portability/objection rights. If you're in California or another US state with a privacy law, that covers your CCPA/CPRA-equivalent rights too. Since I don't sell or share personal information, there's nothing to opt out of.
5. Security
HTTPS everywhere, admin access gated by one-time codes (no stored admin password to steal), and the Site's data files are blocked from being reached directly over the web. If something ever goes wrong that puts your data at risk, I'll tell you.
6. Children
The Site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child gave me something, email hi@kolton.net and I'll delete it.
7. Changes
If this page changes, I'll update the date at the top. Questions go to Kolton Prymula, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida — hi@kolton.net.
